The other day Nini and I spent a couple of hours driving around looking for a new sunset location, but we came up empty handed. It was too bad especially because there was a really nice sunset as some huge storm clouds were building in the Southern sky. Eventually we decided to stop driving around and just take a few shots of the storm clouds. I've always wanted to get a shot of lightning, so this was a promising chance.
This is a single 4 second exposure. This was only the second time I've tried to shoot lightning so I had to experiment quite a bit to find a setting that works. I like using a long exposure so that there is a longer chance there will be lightning during the exposure, but not too long of an exposure that the clouds look too blurry. At this focal length, 4 seconds may even be too long. I had two cameras on tripods focused on the lightning area of the storm clouds. This camera was hooked up to my intervalometer so I didn't have to do much as it took a photo every 5 seconds. I ended up with a nice time lapse too.
Critiques always welcome.
