The Natural Look, Lake Sam Rayburn TX I haven't been sharing many natural looking photos of our new favorite beach on Lake Sam Rayburn. One day last week there were especially large waves that made for the extra glossy look on the water in the previous long exposures I've shared. Well this is what it looked like with a shorter exposure. Right after this photo I put on the 5 stop neutral density filter and left this camera alone while I took some closeups of the dogs, Nini and the swamp with my other camera. This is a two exposure HDR. I used a 3-stop hard step and a 2-stop soft step graduated neutral density filter to darken the exposure on the sky. Even after darkening the sky by 5 stops with filters I knew I would need multiple exposures to capture the entire dynamic range of the scene. But with the filters I only needed two exposures instead of my normal 5 or 7. UPDATE: I just came across this great article on Twitter by Colby Brown on Social Media for Photographers. I'm a very late comer to all of the social media networks, so I find articles like this really helpful. Sometimes I get frustrated trying to keep up with Facebook, G+, 500px, and Twitter, the four social media outlets I use, and the idea of getting on YouTube, Pinterest, and the others just seems daunting.
