Warm Flowers, Nacogdoches TX
The light on these flowers was just magnificent. I actually saw these flowers glowing from a distance and in a crowd of beautiful flowers at the SFA Arboretum. The place is overwhelming, both in sights and in smells. But I discovered in the fall that when a place has so much to see like this place does, it is easy to forget that good light is the key to any photo. So now my strategy is to look for the light instead of the flowers (or maples, in the fall). There are awesome flowers and colors and smells all over the place, but it is the light that is crucial to making a good photo.
I have been extremely busy the last few days, working on the wedding from this past weekend as well as keeping up with Sue Bryce’s 28 day challenge on creativeLIVE. Sue is the 2011 and 2012 Australian Portrait Photographer of the Year and the 2012 WPPI Premier Grand winner. The last two challenges have been “shooting curves,” and “posing groups of 2, 3 and 4.” Tomorrow is “Posing and Shooting Families,” which I’m really looking forward to since I’m assisting the amazing Sarah Williams with some family sessions this weekend. If you are interested in learning posing tips from the world renowned expert in posing, you can check out the first 5 challenges totally free, which include over 5 hours of instruction.
Critiques are always welcome.
