Spring Flow, Columbia MO
Jay and I spent yesterday afternoon photographing Grindstone Nature Area after a day and night of rain. Hinkson Creek is very high, but Mini-Rock Falls is still barely above water. But we are currently getting hit by a huge storm that will last all night. Flash flood warnings are in effect and Mini-Rock falls might be gone by tomorrow afternoon.
This is a single 2.5 second exposure. I normally use longer exposures when the creek is at low flow, but with this much water there is plenty of motion blur at 2.5 seconds. I used a circular polarizer to cut the glare off of the water and allow the rocks and color to shine through a bit more. I was standing in the strongest current I've ever felt at Hinkson Creek and had to be careful my tripod wasn't swept away!
