Leaf Falls Closeup, Columbia MO
I took the boys to Grindstone Nature Area yesterday for a quick hike. We have been hiking everyday for about a week now, which is up slightly from 5 or 6 times a week over the previous few months. Our motivation has always vaguely been to be ready for serious hiking sometime in the future. Well the future is near. Next week we head to Colorado to put ourselves to the test.
This is a single exposure. Hinkson creek is very low right now as we haven't had much rain. Since the creek is low I felt like the best composition would be an extreme closeup to exaggerate the foreground and the flow. Here my subject distance is very close, approximately one foot! I'm very impressed that this 17-40mm lens can focus so close. Of course such a close subject distance shortens the depth of field to the point where the background is out of focus even shooting at 17mm and f/22. Can you notice the other major flaw? (Hint: I decided not to clone it out).
