Overflow at Leaf Falls, Columbia MO
Leaf Falls has a new overflow section after all of the recent rains, creating some new angles for me to try out. The boys and I spent an hour or two playing in the creek yesterday. Since the weather has been nice I've been wearing sandals and getting into the creek more regularly. The day before I took this photo Nini saw a snake swimming downstream right for Leaf Falls. My Dad and I are both super scared of snakes, but I braved the waters anyway. I thought that with the overnight rains and cloudy conditions the water was probably too cold for snakes, and I didn't see any.
I used my Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 for this shot, along with a circular polarizer to cut the glare off of the water. I've been shooting with my 50mm a lot lately just to take a break from my wide angle lens and experiment a little. I shoot at Grindstone Nature Area almost every day so I like to try new techniques even if the scenery is the same.
My photo was blasted with red thumbs yesterday but it won't phase me even the tiniest bit. Good luck today red thumber!
