Elevator Art, Omaha NE
Nini and I drive past this grain elevator every time we leave Omaha (or go downtown), and it always amazes us. We finally went out and photographed it on new year's day. There are 13 canvased silos in all, and they all seem to relate to corn and agriculture. The elevator is no longer in use.
This photo was taken near sunset on a bridge over the interstate, which is like 5+ lanes in both directions, so its pretty expansive below. I have a strong fear of heights but I stood on the very edge of the bridge while cars passed behind me, and underneath me. The fact that it was icy gave it an even more bizarre feeling, like I was going to slip off the bridge and fall down to the interstate. Of course there was concrete barrier preventing me from falling over the edge but it was still weird. It was cool though and exciting.
We are still in Omaha for a few more days, so there will be more to come from this site for sure.
Thanks for all of the kind comments on the fireworks photo and happy new year once again!
